Oil pump for lubrication systems - eccentric friction wheel operating directly on lifting piston with spring loading

The design is for use where a comparatively small amount of oil, for example for splash lubrication of bearings, is required in an inconvenient or inaccessible area. A special cam and cam follower drive are not required. The pump is claimed to be cheap, compact, easy to install and reversible. There is a friction wheel (13) mounted eccentrically (12) and kept in contact by a spring through a slot (11) in the lift piston (2). The piston is kept in position by a gudgeon pin which moves up and down in slides in the cylider. The spring element (4) fits between a valve plate (3) and the base of the piston (5). There are two sealing rings (6, 8) in the cylinder for suction and delivery stroke. There are draining gullies on the surface of the friction wheel.
