Adjustable effect windscreen washers - with manual or automatic control of washer fluid pressure

The effective outlet pressure of the windscreen washer jets is adjustable so that the driver can control the setting of the washer jets at different speeds. One design has the washer pump driven by a DC motor with a speed control potentiometer mounted on the dashboard. An alternative design has a variable flow restriction on the washer jets, with the restriction controlled electrically using a dashboard mounted control. In both designs the water jet pressure is adjusted to position the jets on the same place on the windscreen at different vehicle speeds. An improvement in the design has the adjustment automatically regulated by a feedback control linked to the speedometer. Once preset and tuned the system operates fully automatically.
