Spherical form tank inner shape determination - large size, natural gas, ships tanks volume evaluation

Deviations from spherical form due to malforming, processing deviations and bellying out are avoided in volume calculations for the tanks by measuring process. A coordinate system involving a series of fixed points (P1 to P5) in the inside of the tank and a series of reference points (S1 up to S70) on the inner surface of the tank is incorporated into a measuring system indication. The indication is data processed with calculations involving a horizontal great circle, photographic recording of the reference points and their rendering into a stereoscope model in a photogrammetric autograph unit. The co-ordinates required to be determined for the latter are under the control of the operator.
