A printing plate being a resin layer on a plastics sheet is wrapped around a printing cylinder between longitudinal grooves therein and is secured at one groove by a gripper jaw cooperating with a slide face of the one groove, and at the other groove by a pair of gripper jaws pivotal on a shaft. A cam has two lobes respectively arranged to effect the closing of the pair of jaws and a subsequent taughtening movement thereof by turning of a hand lever in one direction and to slacken the plate and open the jaws by lever movement in the opposite direction.
