Optical 'push-pull' mixer - designed for information carrying and superposed beams for wide range and high sensitivity

A detector is located in the optical axis of the information carrier beam and a beam splitter is arranged before the detector and at an angle to the optical axis. A second detector is arranged symmetrical to the first relative to the beam splitter plane, and the electrical outputs of the detectors are connected to an evaluating circuit. Pref. the axes of the information carrying and superposed beams are symmetrical to the plane of the beam splitter. Both beams are pref. convergent spherical waves having the foccal point on the detectors, and both pref. have the same geometry.
