A digital input signal is allocated to a row. The scanner comprises a shift register whose switching components are each connected to an input of an AND gate, to whose second input a digital input signal is applied. Outputs of the AND gates are connected through a common electronic switch to the output of a saw-tooth generator, whose pulse train is synchronised with the shift register interrogation pulse. Its pulses consist of the sum of output signals of AND gates whose digital input signals satisfy the AND condition. The supericonoscope can consist of integrated circuits in which case it can be seen as the rigid body equivalent of a Vidicon tube.
