In the continuous enrichment of trace elements, U and actinide concentrates as nuclear fuels, enrichment by a factor of 1.3 in the Ca-contg. basic matl. takes place at each recycling from deposits contg. C and hydrocarbons, with retention of the C value, and the waste heat in cooling of the carbide melt produced in the inner cycle and protective gas atmos. is used for preheating or steam generation. The process combines the prodn. of CaO2 from coal and/or coke contg. U and actinides with the formation of slags contg. U. The C values, as C2H2 or CO, are used in chemical syntheses, covering energy costs, and the basic matl., lime, is recycled or used repeatedly for carbide prodn. the U and actinide fractions being enriched.
