Gas removal from scraper conveyor bottoms - has main duct with choke effecting venting sleeves at intervals

Removal of gas from bottom strands of scraper chain conveyors in the mining sector is effected by a combination of a flexible main infeed duct fitted out with ventilating sleeves at appropriate intervals. The diameter of the sleeves produces a choking effect depending on the fall in pressure within the main duct and in this way ensures that issuing air cannot whirl up the dust arising during mining operations. The sleeves increase in dia., starting from the input point towards the centre of the face. This ensures that ventilation remains constant right the way along the conveyor. The venting effect successfully clears gas build-ups from the bottom strand and so prevents ignitions caused by friction between chains and flights.
