A solar oven with a domed, reflective surface and a fluid conducting pipe which passes through the focal point or points of the reflecting surface circuits of a hollow sphere subdivided into three horizontal sections (4, 5, 6) with different optical properties. The upper section (4) is open or light transmitting. The middle section (5) which comprises some 2/3 of the whole sphere is half mirrored to permit ingress of light. The bottom section (6) is internally mirrored. The fluid conducting pipe (7) has a semicircular head (7a) in its mid section and can be rotated about the central sphere axis.
