Camera adaptor for electronic flash - simulates characteristics of disposable flash bulbs to fire thyristor flash circuit

The camera is normally fitted with a control fitting for disposable flash bulbs, and has an integral battery and switch. A simple adaptor is fitted in place of the flash bulb and comprises a low value ohmic resistance to simulate the resistance of a disposable flash bulb. The flash current pulse from the camera is then monitored and is used to fire a thyristor which initiates the electronic flash gun. A suitable time delay is incorporated so that the synchronisation can be compensated for. If the camera is fitted with a multi-contact for a magazine of flash bulbs then the adaptor has contacts which operate on the first set of fittings. The system enables a simple electronic flash to be fitted to a standard camera.
