Steering gear for kayak - with metal or plastic roller moulded to blade support and with vertical pivot

The steering head for the kayak rudder (12) has a support bearing comprising a wheel shaped fitting (4) on a vertical bearing shaft (2). The head is pivotted between two bearing plates (9) and is secured by a capping nut (15). Steering lines (5) are wound round the roller, and through a gap in the head at the rear of the roller. The rudder blade is pivotted about a vertical axis (6) at the end of the head extension. The whole assembly is simple to produce and fit with the head made out of one part, either metallised plastic or light metal casting.
