Conductor wire for high speed train - using circular cross section conductor and surrounding pick-up sleeve

The electric conductor rail for the high speed railway is formed by a circular cross-section, tubular metal pipe (1). This can be of a light aluminium alloy. The pick-up shoe for the train comprises an open sleeve (4) which surrounds the rail for more than 180 deg. and which has pick-up pads (5) positioned under it in radial setting w.r.t. the rail. The insulators supports (3) for the rail are set in the open part of the sleeve and the pick-up sleeve is mounted on the train on a dampened linkage. The system provides a high speed electric pick-up with secure contact. It is light and simple to construct.
