Monolithic insulated reinforced concrete ceiling slab - has iron ribs through light concrete centre layer spaces connecting heavy outer layers

The monolithic slab of reinforced concrete, for use as a ceiling, is designed to have good heat and sound insulating qualities, and a high degree of strength, rigidity and fire resistance. The first (1) of its three layers is of heavy concrete, with built-in support reinforcement; the second layer (2) is made of light concrete filler bodies, with intervening spaces incorporated in both directions; the third layer (3) is of heavy concrete, cast after laying a simple welded mesh reinforcing irons (4) which lie across the spaces in the light concrete layer and act as connecting ribs. This is inexpensive and can be readily mass-produced.
