The private branch telephone exchange has the dialling standby signal receiver connected successively to only those control elements characterising exchange transmissions and responding afresh after each connection. The dialling-standby signal receiver connection depends on the coding of an outgoing freshly engaged line and on a connection not having yet been made. The switching can be repeated in this manner until a ready-for-dialling code is present. The connecting follows only for those transmissions that are actually waiting for a dialling through possibility.
