The flow monitor has a measuring section in which a measuring element responds to variations in flow velocity. The measuring section (1) contains an arrangement (2) for increasing the velocity of the medium as it flows through the monitor, and a device is provided to measure the reduced pressure of the flow medium. The velocity increasing arrangement may be a reduced cross-section or a jet pipe in the form of a e.g. jet pump (5). The pressure measuring device is pref. a spring-loaded diaphragm (4) which seals off a space containing the flow medium from the atmosphere, whereby movement of the diaphragm operates a switch (11).
