The arrangement is intended for purification of engine exhaust gases by after-burning, possibly with the addition of fresh air, and is of the type wherein each pair of cylinders has an exhaust manifold leading into an exhaust pipe. Two such exhaust pipes have a common wall. A common heat insulation may be provided around each pair of exhaust pipes. Two exhaust pipes may be concentrically arranged whereby the inner pipe is supported by leaf springs inside the outer pipe. This support may alternatively be by spring rings, or by a U-section spacer ring having its ends welded to the inner and outer pipe respectively and being provided with orifices.
