Processing manure to dry product - in integrated plant incorporating sludge purification and combustion of residues

A method of processing liquid and solid excrement from large animal of stock-yards, batteries, etc. is carried out by combining conventional plant items as follows: a filter unit in which filtration-promoting substances are injected and mixed supplies filtrate to a 3-stage clarification plant comprising biological, chemical and flotation stages, while the moist filter cake from the filter unit passes to a drier, opt. via a steam-heated screw mixer where some already dried material is admixed; the drier is heated by steam (from boiler) and warm air; the vapour from the drier passes through gas scrubbers and from there the residual vapour passes to the boiler furnace. All waste is efficiently processed with economic use of heat, prodn. of waste products for re-use, and minimal noxious discharge to atmosphere.
