Agent for improving the light-fastness of colours on polypropylene- or basically-modified polypropylene fibres contains a U.V. light absorbing substance. Esp. suitable are particular cpds. derived from benzophenone, pyrazole and benzotriazine. The agents are applied to commercially known (basically modified) polypropylene fibres, or e.g. textile structures contg. at least a proportion of these fibres, and then fixed by thermal treatment (e.g. at 100 degrees C). This treatment may take place before, during or after a colouring or printing process. In contrast to known agents for protecting polypropylene fibres, the above agents are not inclined to foam and do not have an adverse effect on the fixing of the colours. Suitable U.V. absorbing cpds. are e.g. of formula (I): where (a) R is H; X is C8H17; (b) is H; X is C(CH3)3; and (c) R is H; X is H.
