The optical coupling system comprises an optical fibre conductor (1) connected with a terminal plate (2) in the front of a spectacle type frame (3), the latter being attached to the head of the wearer by straps passing around the back of the head. The arrangement enables the coupler to be adjusted to the level of the eyes of the wearer so that an optical instrument (e.g. a microscope) may be viewed from a confortable observation position. End connections to the optical cable may be of the bayonet fitting type to facilitate rapid connection and disconnection.
