Martingale slide in horse riding harness, to guard against rearing accidents, is made from a bar slit to admit the reins. The slide is made of two parts (11, 12) which can be so connected that a slot (13) in one admits the reins. Preferably the two parts are identical and made from plastics. Both parts may include centering components (14) where they face one another, and these same components can serve to connect the parts together. It is also possible to fix the parts together at one end, or even to integrate them. The slide is thus easily fitted to the reins regardless of rein size, and is just as simply removed as required.
