Digital data recording system - has repeated comparison of input values to give stepping motor control signals

An analogue or digital coded electrical signal, e.g. a measured value, is processed digitally and a recording unit is driven in digital steps proportional to this signal. The recorder is first set to zero and the first input value is compared with zero, whereby a counting circuit records the difference and operates a stepping motor accordingly which in turn displaces a recording trace. Both the sensitivity and the accuracy of the recorder can be adjusted within the wide limits. If stored, the actual value can be used for comparison with the value scanned by the next pulse. No matter whether the comparison gives a positive, negative or zero result the deflection is charged by the stepping motor.
