Pencil case with swivel-mounted insert - has resilient tongues in shaped pockets of insert holding pencils of different thickness

The pencil case (10) is provided with an insert (12) of U-shape longitudinal section with upper and lower walls projecting forward from the rear web (16). This insert in which the pencils are held extends only over a part of the length of the case and is mounted to move between a rest position lying more or less flat against the base of the case and an operative position which is swivelled upwards so that the pencils can be easily inserted and removed. At least one of the walls of the insert has inner separating projections mounted at even spacing in the transverse direction to form pockets (24) for the pencils. A retaining tongue (30) is punched out of one of the walls in the longitudinal centre.
