Appts. for detachably connecting pipes of flexible plastic material, has a connecting sleeve, over which the cylindrical pipe ends engage, and external sleeve segments the pipe ends being sealingly deformable between the sleeve and sleeve segments by a radially directed pressure. Screw bolts are mounted on the sleeve segments and come into secrewed engagement with the connecting sleeve. Provides efficient, low cost connection of plastic pipes. The connection is very durable, and does not require skilled labour to be made. Connection of pipes of different materials e.g. flexible polyethylene and rigid polyethylene can be effected.
