Friction disc for frictional false twisting of threads, partic. for crimping synthetic threads. The surface of the disc in contact with the thread is made from a material with a suitably high co-efficient of friction and has a convex cambered profile. In the flattene curvature of the profile the change DELTA r of the disc radius r over the contact surface width s is less than 0.35s. The disc radius r increases from minimum value r min at the end of the contact surface to a maximum r max = r min+DELTA r max at the centre and then falls again to r min at the other end of the contact surface.
