The cable drum has two end flanges linked by a tube around which the cable is wound. The tube is made from a corrugated sheet of plastics material such as polyethylene or polypropylene. The corrugations extend axially parallel to the drum, and the whole tube is constructed in corrugated segments (3) that interlock via their hooked ends (5, 6) and which remain locked by projections (7, 8) located specially for this purpose. The corrugated tube is strengthened by side walls (10) across the corrugations. The drum can still be dismantled. The corrugations are all of the same width, and the hooked ends are of one half the width of the corrugations so that when they are hooked together, the regular sequence of corrugations is not broken.
