A pneumatic suspension system has a pneumatic brake control valve with two inputs (38, 37) from the pneumatic load sensors on the ends of the rear axle. They operate a special double piston (40, 41) on a common operating rod (31) whose displacement modulates the brake force to the rear wheel brakes. The two pistons in different sizes of bore so that the effective thrust area of each is the same as for the other. This enables the control system to generate a pressure on the control rod corresponding to the sum of the two monitor signals, i.e. twice the means value. Asymmetric suspension movements are then easily compensated for without requiring any complicated control linkage.
