Aluminium hollow girder chord shaped-section - with lengthways rib clusters as welding protuberances for plates at angles

The chord shaped-section unit is for use in producing welded load bearing structures, pref. in the form of aluminium hollow girders. A series of welding protuberances (6a, 7, 8) in the form of lengthways-running ribs, is pressed on at one or more points on the chord shaped section and plates converging from a number of directions can be welded onto these. The shaped-section unit is pref. an open U or V shaped channel in cross-section, with the welding protuberances on the open edges, which are bent over towards each other. Extruded light metal is a suitable material. This is adaptable for widely varying cross-sections and the angles for joining plates can be varied.
