In a control device for coke and gas chamber ovens, in which the fuel channels for supplying the heating gas and combustion air to the individual heating flues, have cross sectional areas which are steplessly variable by means of slider elements and also serve as flue gas discharge channels. A main housing is provided with a compartment to which a heating gas or combustion air channel can be connected and a second compartment which can be connected to a flue gas discharge line. The device also has a series of slide valves, the slider housings of which have two apertures situated in each compartment of the main housing and able to co-operate with two openings in the control slider which can be adjusted by a pressure medium-operated positioning element connected to a temp. senser mounted on the oven chamber via an electrical or electronic control unit. The outlet apertures or the control openings of the individual slide valves are axially spaced from each other in such a way that when the flue gas outlet opening is open, the heating gas or combustion air opening is closed. Provides a constructionally simple means for the completely automatic and precision regulation of the heating gas - and combustion air-feed to the individual burner positions in the heating flues, which is operationally safe with no risk of forming explosive mixtures. The system also acts as a reversing device for periodically reversing the heating flues.
