Emergency or alarm installation is for use with exsting telephone facilities and it produces automatically without need for a person to effect it, a speed connection to a given extension, such as police, fire personnel. The call, in case of an engaged signal being obtained, is repeated until effective communication is achieved. The installation may have a self-checking arrangement to inspect the various functioning parts of the system. It may be arranged so that in the case of a call already being in train, priority is accorded to the emergency call. There may be provided an associated documentation device for security and purposes of evidence of functioning. The installation may also have a secondary function as being utilisable in a telephone or remote recording network.
