Fibres for each diaphragm layer are at first separately dispersed in water, and then precipitated as a felt-like fleece of the required shape. The complete diaphragm is then dried under pressure. After deposition of fibres for each diaphragm layer, dispersion solution is removed from each layer, and the still wet diaphragm layers are placed inside each other. The assembled diaphragm is then filled and covered with water, so that the layers are intimately felted with each other. Water is then sucked away through one of the layers.
