Automatic urban transit system underground station - between staircases, with ceiling above street level, and coach door combined with roof

The underground station, below street pavements, comprises a space set between staircase flights, with a ceiling lying higher than the street level, and pref. top-lit. Inside, the load bearing fittings are higher than the top tunnel tube surface. With coaches of seat height, the higher part of the station, viewed cross-sectionally, extends at least to the centre of the coach, making it possible to enter without bending, this arrangement being in conjunction with a coach door layout which opens the coach roof at the same time. Economies are made by having the base of tunnel as high as possible, without detracting from comfort and accessibility.
