Expansible polystyrene particles for foam moulding - contg. nucleating agent to give coarse pore structure and homogeneous density

Finely divided expansible styrene polymer particles, for the prodn. of foram mouldings, contain 0.0001-0.2 phr of a nucleating agent (I) in non-homogeneous distribution, (I) being situated only in a thin band at the surface of the particles and virtually absent in the interior. Mouldings obtd. from the particles can be demoulded after a short dwell-time in the mould, have very low thermal conductivity (due to the coarse internal pore structure), have good dimensional stability (i.e. no lateral depression) and have homogeneous density.
