Liq-liq extraction in pulsed sieve-plate columns - having in excess of one metre

In a process for continuous liq.-liq. extraction in pulsed sieve-plate columns, the energy required to pulse the liqs. is introduced to each plate separately in columns having dias. greater than 1 metre. It is unnecessary to design the column to withstand the forces imposed by the entire contents of the column (several tonnes) in pulsation. A high mass-transfer rate is achieved which gives an increased column efficiency.
