An automatic pump pressure by pass regulator for water circulation heating installations to control the pump pressure produced by the circulating pump, has a by pass pipe situated in the housing through which the heating medium flows. A cut off device is opened or closed by the forces resulting from the passage of various quantities of heating medium through the by pass pipe. As a result the medium flowing through the by pass pipe is controlled so that the by pass flow is large at small heat medium flows and vice versa to produce lower pump pressure as small mass flows and high pressures at large flows.
