The stand for office equipment has a base plate to which are secured one or more upright rods. The base plate is a sheet metal pressing and has a peripheral flange resting on the floor and a raised parallel main panel to which the rods are secured. The connection between any one rod and the panel is by means of a single convolution of a nut thread pressed from the panel and engaged by a corresponding screw thread formed on the rod. The amoun by which the rod is screwed into the panel is limited by the last convolution of the rod thread.
