The jack or lift fitment for kitchen cupboards is particularly of use for corner cupboards so that all the space can be utilised with relatively easy access. The lift mechanism comprises at least one, pref. four, guide rods (3), swivel mounted at one end, and at the other are connected to a support lever (5) which at its free end supports the support plate (9) which bears the internal structure of the cupboard and can be raised and lowered against spring force. The support lever (5) is controlled by an auxiliary guide rod (12) which engages on the guide rod (3) so that the movement of the free end of the support lever which is composed of the swivel movement of the end of the guide rod on the one hand, and the swivel movement of the support lever about the end of the guide rod on the other follows a straight upright path. The auxiliary guide rod (12) is preferably mounted to swivel about an axis (11) which has a fixed position relative to the axis about which the guide rod (3) swivels.
