The method is for the setting and mounting of cams onto a programme plate for traverse control. The plate is mounted on V -grooves and against end stops for longitudinal positioning. The cams are set in accordance with traverse movements and the plate is then removed from the machine tool and mounted on V -grooves and against end stops into a setting machine (1). The positions of the cams are measured and recorded so that the unit can be dismantled and later re-assembled and re-mounted into the machine tool for the repeated manufacture of the same workpiece.
