The machine designed for the surface treatment of squares and paths which have a coating of sand, comprises a towed chassis and a number of matching ground working appliances arranged at intervals in a row on this. These appliances are in the form of circular-disc-shaped blades (6), each mounted on a bearing bolt (17) on a downwards-pressing unit (18), so as to be able to rotate, and in such a way that every blade individually can be deflected upwards in the event of rolling over a solid obstacle. The downwards-pressing unit pref. consists of a two-armed swivel lever, with a loading arm (19) bearing the blade and a weighted (20) force arm (21) running at an angle to this. All the levers may share a common bearing axis (25) anchored to the chassis. The water run-off capacity of sand-strewn surfaces can be effectively maintained.
