Plain paper printer using thermally fusible toner powder - uses transport unit to bring powder in contact with paper and near printing head

The printing head (7) which sends out the heat rays is positioned on the opposite side of the recording medium, e.g. paper, from the toner powder so that the heat penetrates the paper in order to fuse the powder in place. The transport unit can comprise a roller with an electrostatically chargeable surface whereby the electrostatic force thereby creasted holds the toner powder in contact with the paper. More specifically the transport unit is a web of black material (8) which passes round the printing roller (10) from a supply roller (9) to take-up spool (11). The paper (3) is also in web form and is brought into contact with the toner carrier (8) by the aid of transport rollers (12).
