ABSTRACTA method of increasing the power handling capacityand economy of a high-tension overhead line consists inpassing a coolant, such as water, through the line so as toremove heat therefrom. The heat is then extracted fromthe coolant and is usefully employed, for instance to heatnearby buildings. An overhead cable for performing themethod comprises a duck for passage of the coolantsurrounded by an electric conductor.
