The waste gases of viscose spinning machines are purified with the recovery of H2S and CS2 by providing a spinning bath of a volume fully adequate to absorb the gases set free during the coagulation and regeneration processes. This is drawn off into a closed circuit, air being excluded and degasified away from the spinning trough. The ratio-tons of fibre to metres of spinning bath, is maintained at 1:500.
