The method of collecting, storing and re-supplying of materials such as packages, package strips etc., is especially during the temporary stoppage of one machine which either produces these materials or which processes them. The conveying operation of the material is interrupted during the period the machine to the rear is standing still, during which time the materials are collected unsorted, are stored and are subsequently moved forward in a sorted and lined up manner towards the machine to the rear particularly when the machine in front is at a standstill. A vibration sorting installation (5) is located between the front and the rear machine (1, 2) with a coordinated conveyor band (3).
