The conveyor layout incorporates guide rails for powered conveyor carriages, with one or more driving wheels is mounted in the base area, running on a centre stem on the rail, and with lateral travelling rollers in an immediately adjacent area. In the two peripheral areas adjoining the centre stem (M), the guide rails (FS) incorporate lateral bounding stems (S), and these cross over, above the centre stem, in virtually parallel guide surfaces (F) for the travelling rollers (R) on the undersurface of the guide rails. The conveyor carriages (FW) may have side walling faces leading down to below the axles of the travelling rollers, carrying the bearing points (L) for the rollers. Current leads (B) may be mounted on the centre stem, parallel to the guide rails and symmetrical to the rolling track of the drive wheel.
