Mine roadway and heading ventilation duct storage - linking duct split into sections by choke between fan and storage tube

Ventilation duct sewerage system for mine headings and roadway use, operates with the aid of an auxiliary fan in a bypass duct which generates underpressure for drawing the duct into the accumulator when retracting, the outlet end of the retracted duct being sealed from outside when the local heading ventilation is cut off, using valves to control the air used to produce the required underpressure during this movement. One fan (1) is mounted in the main flow at the heading end of the storage accumulator, there being a linking duct (2) with inserted choke (4) between this fan (1) and the storage duct tube (3). The choke should break the linking duct into two sections (5, 6) with an adjustable tube (8) at the delivery end (7) of section (6) expanded in the form of a flange (9), compared with a similar flanged funnel end (11) at the intake entry (10) to the other section (5). The choke may be an adjustable flap member (12) accommodated within the linking duct (12).
