Tower shaped transformer station made from light metal, has the structural frame made from metal tubes with square cross section. The vertical members (16) are continuous, forming the four corners of the housing. They are strengthened by cross braces (26, 14, 17) also made from square section metal tubes. The stiffness in the transverse direction, which absorbs the shearing forces are secured with the plates (1, 5, 7) to the vertical members. All the expansion stresses are absorbed by the structure. The filling plates forming the walls are trapezoidal in shape or are corrugated. The base of the structure is fitted with a ballast load (2) to prevent tipping after erection.
