Bar rolling mill with work-roll housings mounted on pivots - so roll-axes follow a closed path

The parent patent describes a roll-stand for bars where the axes of the work-rolls travel along a closed path, the work-rolls engaging with the reducing the workpiece during only a part of each cycle. In the present invention, the two work-rolls are mounted in holders located on a pivot on one side of the rolls so the holders can swivel on an axis which is parallel with the roll-axes. One end of each holder is mounted on pivot-shafts while the other end is mounted on a crankshaft, so the axes of the work-rolls can be driven round a closed path in a defined area of the stand. Devices for driving the rolls round their axes are provided. Suitable e.g. for the slow travel of ingots with a heavy cross-section.
