Aluminium box studs and coolers - for sand casting of aluminium

Chaplets or box studs made of Al are used in securing the core in sand casting of Al, and Al cooling plates or rods for obtg. directional solidification of a sand cast Al melt. In order to obtd. a good welded bond between the Al casting and the studs and coolers, the studs and coolers are provided with a metal coating using a metal which has m.pt. as low as possible and a vaporisation point as high as possible.
