Granulated asphalt mastic prepn - from dried asphalt powder and olefine-polymer - modified bitumen

Granular asphalt mastic, for waterproof road paving, is prepd by producing an asphalt powder having the desired grain-size, e.g. by grinding natural aspha drying the powder, e.g. at 130 degrees C to expel all moisture; granulating dried powder together with molten modified bitumen, contg. pref. 0.1-2 wt.% olefine polymers and copolymers, and cooling. Granulates obtd do not agglomerate to lumps even at 60-70 degrees C.
