Selective sulphatation of unsatd fatty alcohols - and their oxyethylation products with gaseous sulphur trioxide

Sulphation is effected at 30-120 degrees C, pref. 75-100 degrees C using a mixt. of 5-25 pref 15-20% SO3 with dry air, and 3-30% carbamide, with respect to the starting materials, 5-50% alkylbenzene sulphonic acids are pref. added to facilitate the dissolution of the carbamide. In parent patent, the sulphation is effected at 30-70 degrees C with a dry air mixt. contg. 5-12% SO3.
