An apparatus, for collecting and removing particles of 1 micron size suspended in gas, comprises an atomiser for producing a cloud of liquid droplets in the gas. Two guiding chanels conduct two opposing flows of gas each containing a cloud of liquid droplets so that the two flows are accelerated and meet each other in an interchange zone; here the two flows mingle and the droplets of 1 micron or less size are separated, the gas leaving through an exit device and the moisture droplets containing particles being collected in a separator.
